My car broke down this weekend and I had it towed to a shop that couldn't figure out what was wrong with it, told me to tow it to the dealership. I use my car daily for work in a fairly important field and have been piggybacking off family members cars to still make shift times. It broke down in the driveway of the house I just sold on my the way to unpack at my new house, which then turned out to have a ton of repairs needed and no running water. Pretty much been the week from down below and called the dealership to try and figure out if anything could be done at all for my car. The lady who answered (I think her name is Emily but I have a terrible time with names) was the first person in a junk week to be reassuring and actually make me feel like they'll be able to help out and fix things. She walked me through the steps of getting a tow and laid out the process of getting my car sorted in a way that was easy to understand and straight forward. It may not seem like much but thank you Emily for your kindness. Your help and sunny disposition made things feel alot easier and manageable when everything in life seems a bit out of control. Fingers crossed my car can get sorted out without it costing me the soul of my firstborn but regardless, I appreciate the people at this dealership.

UPDATE: The dealership contacted me and apologizing for the miscommunication. They agreed to take alook at the problem again and were able to return my vehicle to me in a better state than the condition it was when it was given to them. Looking forward to seeing how they continue to improve on their communication with customers. Overall result, I am not upset as I was before, but I also do not feel good about the overall experience. Thank you Seaway Hyundai for following up. ‐--------------------------------------------‐--------------- Three vehicles purchased here. Was a satisfied customer for over a decade. Sales may still be good, the service department is so horrendous, incompetent and poor at communicating to their customers. I took my vehicle in because the center console would light up like a Christmas tree. I would lose power to everything while driving on the highway, as I am a commuter. It took 10 days after dropping the car off for them to look at it and then they claimed that the backup camera has a fault and it is causing everything else to short. They quoted me close to $1000 to replace the camera. Now this vehicle is a 2017, cameras weren't the best quality back then and they wanted me to spend $1000 to replace the crapy camera with another crapy camera so that my car was able to drive. I said no thanks, just make the problem go away. They unplugged power to the camera and it got rid of the communication errors. That was their recommendation I said, sounds good. I find out that I no longer have function of my trunk. I have an SUV that doesn't have a trunk now unless I crawl into the trunck from the back seat and slide the emergency manual latch to force it open. Did their mechanics even know what they were doing? I will never buy another Hyundai, I will never get the two I already own serviced here again and I will never, ever hesitate to voice how bad they are at servicing their own brand of vehicles to anyone who is willing to listen. 1 star

In September 2021, I purchased a 2021 Hyundai Elantra Preferred from Seaway Hyundai. This was my first time purchasing a new vehicle on my own, and admittedly I was very eager and inexperienced. I did not do enough research beforehand and assumed the dealership process would be straightforward and trustworthy, especially because family members had previously had good experiences there. I worked with Tim during the purchase process. The vehicle I purchased was a demo with mileage already on it. Initially, I was offered $800 off the sticker price because it was a demo vehicle. However, on the day of the sale, I was instead given a cheque for $350 and told that was all the Sales Manager would approve. I was disappointed. I was also charged for winter mats that were already in the demo vehicle, and the front passenger mat is either severely warped or appears to belong to an entirely different vehicle. One positive part of my experience was working with Joey in financing. He was proactive and able to secure me a lower borrowing rate than initially estimated without me even asking, which I appreciated. After I raised concerns about the reduced demo discount, Tim told me the dealership would instead store my summer tires free of charge during the winter. However, when the time came, there was no note on my file regarding this arrangement. Service staff consulted with a representative from sales, who came over, looked at me, looked back at the service representative, said “no,” and walked away without any discussion. I found that interaction extremely dismissive and unprofessional. Looking back, I recognize that I was naive and too eager during the buying process. I didn’t shop around or take enough time to understand everything before signing. I’m writing this review mainly to encourage others to do their research, ask questions, and bring someone they trust if they are unsure or inexperienced. Don’t feel pressured to make a decision on the spot, and make sure every promise or agreement is documented in writing before signing anything.

Buying a car from here was amazing great customer service everyone was wonderful. But the service department was absolutely horrible. A week after I bought it I heard grinding coming from the back took it back cause im in the 30 day safety period they said I need to leave it over night so that way they could hear what was wrong. No problem fine with me that was on Wednesday I didn't get a call on Thursday or Friday I had to call them back on Saturday and ask what was going on they started listing a few safety things which confused me cause I thought they did a safety before I bought a week prior told me I would have the car back Monday night Tuesday morning the latest. So I waited I didn't get a call on Monday I didn't get a call Tuesday so I called them again told me they were waiting for new bolts I should have it tomorrow being Wednesday and wouldn't you know it they didn't call me till Thursday morning at 820 to pick up my which tells me it was done Wednesday. So I paid cash for the car almost 16000 to walk for over a week and take cabs cause they never offered a loner and when I got the car back the parking brake dont work and the bolts they were supposly waiting for it had the old bolts in. So they were basically just trying to wind down my 30 days and the guy at the desk when I walked in was rude and not really helpful worst customer service I have ever had in my life would definitely never buy from again I think I would of been better Buying from a guy on the street at least then I would expect these kinds of things.

We purchased a vehicle in December 2025. What we thought would be a good experience was definitely not. Booked a test drive online. The vehicle was not ready when we arrived. We were told the car would be cleaned, fueled, and fixed when we picked it up. It was fueled only!! At the time of the vehicle pick up, the sales person we were dealing with was not there ( He was supposed to be) We were told they would call to have the vehicle repaired, they did not do that. After a few days, I called the salesperson to see what was going on? I was given the run around. We were told to drop off the vehicle to be repaired, then told they can't do it there. We were given a loaner vehicle. It was filthy and tiny. We were told another one would be available right away if we would like to switch. That was not the case at all. We did speak to the general manager, and that was a complete joke. Lesson learned, we will NEVER deal with Cornwall Hyandai. Edit-> A small offer to help make things right by Hyundai was a reimbursement of car mat's, I did what was asked of the general manager and still waiting for the reimbursement. I also forgot to mention the safety that was done at hyandai was improperly done. The rear seatbelt was not working, and the wipers were not in good condition. Figured I should mention the safety part because its incredibly important do be done properly.

So I’d just like to share my experience buying 2 BRAND new cars here. Bought my first Elantra at the end of 2018 brand new with 34km on it. Had issue after issue with it, coils misfiring 4-5 times, steering column broken etc only had it a year and a half and went back to Hyundai to trade it in for a brand new 2020 Hyundai Tucson let’s just say the problems I’ve had with the Tucson would have cost thousands had I not bought the extended warranty. Head gasket leak, water pump issue, catalytic converter had to be replaced, now I’m having my camshaft sensor problems the list goes on. It’s not a reliable car. Now moving onto the service there, their service is ok. Cole is great. But there’s one guy that could not care about any problems I bring. He’s dismissive . Instead of coming out to check the car which had an engine light on so I could show him the problem he just said earliest we can get you in is Friday (this was a Monday). I have 2 young children too so it adds to the stress of what is going to break next baring in mind I haven’t had to pay for any repairs because none of them have been ware and tear. I just feel screwed as I have been sold 2 brand new cars from this dealership and they have just give me problem after problem. (Update) 31-10-2025 Just got my car back from the shop, said there was no issues with sensors so swapped them around to possibly see if there’s an issue and if there is to bring it back! Wow. They have stated my car is burning too much oil (1.5 litres they had to top up) after I had an oil change not even 2 months ago so it’s a motor issue or sensor issue. Told me I have to pay $400 to get some cleaning done to the sensors etc to possibly rectify the issue. Absolutely shocking.

I took my car to Hyundai in Hamilton because it was shaking, and I explained the issue to them. They performed a service and charged me $500, assuring me that if I faced any further problems, I could go to any nearby Hyundai location to fix it for free. However, after the service, my car still has a vibration problem, and the screen is showing an error related to the service. I then went to Hyundai in Cornwall, but they said they were not aware of the Hamilton Hyundai service, and they charged me $87 for checking, yet the vibration issue was still not resolved, and the error is showing again. In fact, within minutes I was able to verify by checking the serial number and date, and later uploading the information to ChatGPT, that the battery was past its expected lifespan. This could have been identified in advance, saving me from being stranded, missing work, calling CAA, and paying for an avoidable repair. In good faith, I requested that the dealership cover at least half of the $320 replacement cost, especially since I discovered that the extended warranty I purchased with the car does not cover the battery. I believe this would have been a fair and reasonable resolution. I have already accepted responsibility for another repair—the link kit replacement, which may have resulted from driving over a pothole. However, being sold a vehicle with its original expired battery—despite two safety inspections, one in Ontario and one in Quebec—was both unexpected and disappointing, and not in line with the level of service I had initially experienced.
